This is a blog about linguistics. All areas of linguistics are fair game, but I have particular clusters of interest in sociolinguistics, phonetics, language change, psycholinguistics, and pragmatics. I have an undergraduate degree in linguistics from the University of Cambridge, UK, so I'm not unqualified (watch that double-negative–hedging — pragmatics in action!), but posts are intended to be comprehensible and interesting to a general audience. The primary purpose of this blog is give my linguistic investigations some focus now that I have graduated, but if I can also entertain or inform at the same time, then so be it.
